You may be engaging in integrative wellness right now and not even realize it. The “integrative” approach integrates all beneficial things toward your overall wellness, from vitamins and supplements to medicine and nutrition. Plus, it’s an individualized approach rather than a one-size-fits-all.
Here at Alpha Care Wellness Center, we provide integrative wellness solutions to our clients – including those who are experiencing migraines, adrenal fatigue, allergies and sensitivities, arthritis pain, hormonal imbalances, metabolic disorders, and beyond. If you’re looking for a holistic and practical approach to your health, let’s talk about how integrative medicine might benefit you and where you can go for a personalized wellness assessment and an overall medical solution for you.
What Is Integrative Medicine?
Integrative medicine is a derivation of complementary medicine, which has long been used in conventional medicine as a therapeutic addition from alternative (holistic) medicine in treating diseases and illnesses – such as adding acupuncture as a complementary therapy to headache treatment. Whereas practitioners of alternative/holistic medicine used to avoid (and even eschew) traditional medicine, and medical doctors used to largely ignore holistic medicine, practitioners on both sides are slowly becoming more and more comfortable with combining their therapies for optimum treatment of each individual.
Patients who have medical and mental conditions such as cancer, fibromyalgia, neuropathy, arthritis, autoimmune disorders, and stress and anxiety can all benefit from the integrative approach. For example, cancer clients may experience pain, nausea, vomiting, and gastrointestinal issues as a result of radiation treatment or chemotherapy, and integrative medicine can help to mitigate these symptoms. Your wellness practitioner will evaluate your overall health, note any pre-existing conditions you may have, and give you a wellness assessment.
Using the information garnered from the assessment (such as if your body is low on certain nutrients), your wellness practitioner may recommend that you add treatments and therapies such as supplements, acupuncture, and massage therapy. Integrative medicine is by no means a replacement for conventional medicine, but it is complementary – a way to lessen your symptoms and improve your quality of life.
Does Integrative Medicine Have a Scientific Basis?
Yes. At Alpha Care Wellness Center, our treatments and therapies are science-based and data-driven. Our own Dr. Catherine Oseni is a board-certified integrative and functional medicine practitioner, and she uses a biology-based and holistic approach. She analyzes the client as a whole, and she then identifies the root cause of the client’s symptoms. It’s important to look for an integrative wellness center that has a board-certified doctor who knows how to harness all of the best therapies available for your particular health.
In order for us to determine the root cause of your condition, we recommend functional testing along with a review of your medical history and lifestyle. Among the many functional tests we offer are:
- Adrenal Stress Index Panel
- Celiac Profile
- Cycling Female Hormone Panel
- IgG Food Antibody Assessment
- Menopause Hormone Panel
- Pharmacogenomics (PGx) Testing
- SpectraCell Micronutrient Testing
- Nutrient and Toxic Elements Testing
- Neurotransmitter Profile
The quantifiable results of our comprehensive health evaluation will help us to create a customized treatment for you. Examples of integrative wellness solutions we provide are:
- Healthy Transformations and 30-Day Healthy Eating – for weight loss and weight management
- Alpha Detox Protocol – to combat brain fog, fatigue, and bloating
- Corporate Wellness – designed to promote wellness in the workplace as well as your overall well-being and prevent chronic disease
- Adrenal Dysfunction Protocol – for better adrenal function
