We absolutely love LOVE here at Alpha Care Wellness Center and Valentine’s Day is just another wonderful excuse to show the people in your life that you care. How will you & your loved ones spend Valentine’s Day this year? Whether you enjoy date night with your significant other or choose to spend the day with friends and family, we wanted to suggest some ways that you can implement creative wellness tips into your celebratory plans.
1. Prepare this chocolate avocado pudding for dessert:
-2 large, ripened avocados, pitted & peeled
-1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
-1/2 cup brown sugar
-1/3 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
-2 tsp vanilla extract
-1 pinch ground cinnamon
Blend all ingredients until smooth consistency is achieved. Refrigerate 30 minutes & serve.
2. Unplug
Did you know the average person spends three hours on their phone daily? Make a plan to put the iPhone away, turn off the TV, unplug the desktop & spend time with the ones you love. Make it a priority to do something everyone enjoys this Sunday!
3. Use essential oils
Aromatherapy has a variety of love inspired oils that help clear the mind, increase intimacy, encourage sensuality & create an atmosphere for romance. Consider diffusing Lavender, Ylang Ylang, Patchouli & Bergamot. These scents can also be diluted in a carrier oil such as coconut or olive & used as a massage oil as well.
4. Cozy up- Love is Medicine!
Anytime you feel, touch, hug or just have rushing loving thoughts of someone, you release a cocktail of neurotransmitters and hormones, also called “love hormones.” These hormones are responsible for making us feel more relaxed, calm & at ease.
Oxytocin -Improves memory -Decreases pain and inflammation -Decreases blood pressure -Improves growth and healing -Reduces stress levels (Cortisol) -Improves sexual health
Dopamine -Improves sleep -Improves bone health -Improves sexual health -Reduces inflammation -Improves memory
Physical touch such as cuddling, massages (giving/receiving), holding hands, hugging, kissing and even petting your fur babies are all great ways to release these “feel good” hormones. Make this Valentine’s Day extra special and memorable by giving/showing love in a new way. A life full of benefits physically, mentally and spiritually is indeed medicine!
5. Show your heart some love
How do you prioritize your heart health? Cardiovascular exercise such as brisk walking, jogging & biking lowers risk of heart disease. Taking fish oil supplements such as Alpha Omega can encourage healthy heart function. Make sure to eat a diet full of vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds & drink little to no alcohol. Consider Valentine’s Day a great reminder to take care of your heart!
